Came to Noble County with his Father, Brother, Sister and Brother-in-law (about 1834). Could have been others in this group. (Possible that Buckles and Pipers were already associated with the Jones family)

There are a number of Buckles families in Sullivan County Tennessee which is where it appears the Jones family is from. There is also a significant number of Cowan's in Sullivan county who may be related. In a letter to William Cowan Jones from Jennifer Cowan, who is student at Zena Seminary, she refers to William as her cousin.

Became a major land holder during his life. Over a dozen parcels of land some as large as a quarter section. 15Served as Justice of the Peace in the 1850’s.

Was the local doctor and pharmacist, running a store Called Dr Jones & Fry, Dealers in Drugs, Medicines, Groceries, Books and Statonery. Located in Legonier, Ind. and statements of accounts from the 1870’s are part of the family papers.15

Elias also sold farm commodities and livestock from the family farm.15

Business and medical partners are listed at different times as Dr. Reed and then a Dr. Stephen S. Austin (1849, 2 years).15
