Misc. Notes
John R. Piper (thought to be John Runyan Piper) was son of George Piper (b. 20 Feb 1776 in Laurel, Anne Arundel, Maryland; d. 22 Oct 1854 in Dayton, Tippecanoe Co., Indiana) and Jane Runyan, (b. 1784 in Harrison Co., W.Virginia; d. 4 Feb 1841, Dayton, Tippecanoe Co., Indiana). John had 5 siblings; Elizabeth b 1808-1890; Susannah b 7 Feb 1810; George Hoffman b 5 Dec 1811; Drusilla b. 1814; and Margaret b. 1816-1818. All were born in Virginia.

John's birth date is taken from "Alvord's History of Noble Co., Indiana" by Samuel E. Alvord. page 240. From a Biographical sketch of his son George W. Piper.

John married Jane Prickett 25 November 1825 in Clark County. (Copy of marriage record from Clark Co.)

In 1834, residents of Clark Co., Ohio signed a petition regarding the closure of the Bank of the United States. Among the signatures found on page 6 of the "23rd Congress 1st Session House of Reps, Doc No. 453" was that of John R. Piper. No other Piper names appeared.

Following the death of John R. Piper, his widow Jane Prickett Piper never remarried. His widow and the children removed to Noble Co., Indiana in October 1841, where John's sisters and their families had moved in 1831.

For notes regarding the placement of John R. Piper as child of George Piper and Jane Runyan, see notes on the page for George.1

I offer the conjecture that this John R. Piper could be JOHN RUNYAN PIPER. I lack that proof positive, but do believe this John R. Piper is son of George Piper and Jane Runyan. (Katrina M Piper)1
