As an additional validation of the birth date for George, it was found on a copy of the inner leaf of a family Bible. One can see a handwritten entry for the date as 20 Feb 1776. Although we once paid a professional that specializes in the state of Maryland, there was no definitive find as to the parents of this George. Speculation depending on a census image and location in Anne Arundel Co., Maryland, suggests the father was also named George.
Following the death of wife Jane on 4 Feb 1841, George married late in life to Hannah Bryant, whose surname is likely from a prior marriage. This marriage 22 Apr 1845, Tippecanoe Co., Ind. (Indiana Marriages to 1850). They are found on the 1850 U.S. Census, Sheffield, Tippecanoe, Ind. M432-175, pg 166a.
