In the 1850 Census, Hannah Whiticar is 16 & living with Lucinda Scarlet (probab ly the widow of Ephraim, Hannah's uncle) & her children in Noble, Noble, IND. It is from this record that her birthplace is revealed to be Ohio. Hannah Jones is listed as one of the heirs of her grandfather Nathaniel Whittecar after his death in 1857. In 1880, Hannah & Samuel Jones appear in Noble, Noble, IN in the census. Samuel is a farmer. According to the Noble Co, Indiana webs ite, Hannah Whittecar appears on page 38 of the 1882 Goodspeed's Index of Noble County.
Jones Hannah, late the wife of Samuel Jones, follows in quick succession the death of her husband. She was born in Madison County, Ohio April 6, 1834 and died at her home in Wolf Lake April 16, 1891, aged 47 years and 10 days. She emigrated to Noble County with her parents, Silas and Olive Whitaker, one sister and one brother, in 1838. Her father died in 1843 and her mother, a few years later, leaving their 3 young children to the cold charities of the world. The elder sister died many years ago and her brother lived to mourn. She was married to Samuel Jones Dec. 7, 1851. To this union 5 children were born. The daughters all died when young; the son, E. S., survives to mourn. She was baptized at Cold Springs, then in Noble County, in 1849 and became a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral was held at the Baptist Church. Burial, Wolf Lake Cemetery.
