"Selas Whiticar" appears in the Madison, OH Tax Records in 1831, the only time between 1816 and 1838. He had 1 horse. Silas & his wife both seem to have died while their children were fairly young: In 1850 Hannah is living with Scarlett relatives, & neither child knew their mother's maiden name when they married. Although a record of the Scarlett family reports that Silas & Olive only had 2 children, it is possible that Silas & Olive had another child. There is a female Francis Whitticar, b. abt 1840 who is living with another family in 1860 . I cannot see another Whitticar family that she could belong to, but it is possible she came from somewhere else. Additionally, in the 1840 Census, Silus S . Whitaker reported a family which included a son (Newman) born after 1835, and 2 girls (Hannah & ?) born between 1830 & 1835. It is also possible that the 3rd child is Laura. In the will of Silas' father, Nathaniel in 1857, he mentions Hannah Jones & Laura Kenney. There is a Laura, married to Benton Keeney, living in Washington Twp. (p. 229) in Noble Co, IND in 1850. Laura is 17, b. ab t 1833 in OH. This would fit in very well with the family. In 1840, Silas & his family are living in Noble Township, Noble Co, IND, near Olive's family
