Stanley D. Warner

Stanley D. Warner, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005. He was a resident of Nineveh.

He was born April 7, 1929, in Argos. His parents were Vaughn and Nova Warner. He married Rena Calbeck on Aug. 15, 1953. She survives. Other survivors include four children, Wendy Thompson of Centerville, Nancy Fair of South Bend, Judith McGuire of Wayside, N.J., and Dr. Jeffrey Warner of Cullman, Ala.; a sister, Evelyn Rosche of St. Joseph, Mich.; a brother, Bernard Warner of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell Warner.

He was salutatorian of his class at Argos High School, graduating in 1947. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1959 with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree and received his doctorate in veterinary pathology from the University of Minnesota in 1965.

He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Working for Dow Chemical Co. in Indianapolis for 27 years, he did drug research, was director of toxicology and achieved the highest scientific rating of distinguished scientist.

He was a past president of the Lions Club, a Boy Scout master in Thorntown and an elder at Church of the Lakes in Brown County, where he was a member.

His hobby was woodworking, and he crafted many clocks and furniture pieces.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1952.

The Rev. Bruce Bendinger will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Lakes, 8844 Nineveh Road in Nineveh. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Indianapolis.
