BESTUL, Luther Justin, age 61 of Ferndale passed away Saturday October 3, (1959) while at work at the Columbia Valley Lumber Co. He had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past 26 years. Mr. Bestul was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Lutheran Free Church, Kulshan Post No. 154 American Legion, and Teamsters Union Local 231. Survivors include his wife Magda at home, 2 daughters Mrs. Laura Dahl and Mrs. Shirley Phillips both of Seattle, 7 grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Peter Sommerseth of Edmonds, 1 brother Sylvan Bestul of Arlington, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted in the Moles Monroe Funeral Chapel Wednesday, October 7 at 2 p.m. with Rev. E. E. Dreyer officiating. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

Luther Bestul was raised by his grandparents for two years after the death of his mother.32

Later worked as a automechanic at the local Ford dealer.

Moved to farm on Malloy Road in Ferndale in 1933, during the depression.

In 1954 built the home on Malloy Road just outside of town.
