A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth J. Johnson, 82, of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. William Hritsko officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Battle Creek, Mich.
Betty, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church, died Jan. 22, 2002, at the Inn at Sharon Brooke. She was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Columbus, to the late Paul J. and Duxie M. (Smith) Jones. Betty worked as a nurse in a V.A. Hospital for many years. She was a former parishioner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Aniston, Ala., where she was also a member of the bereavement committee. In addition, Betty was in charge of "The Village" at McMillen Woods.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Karl F. and Hope Ann Johnson of Miller-sport; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Johnson, Daniel and Sharon Johnson, and Michelle Kevin and Kenny Colvin; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Johnson in 1977; daughter, Donna C. Brown; and one grandson. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
