Earl Odell Dahl, 87 of Bemidji, MN died on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 6, 2016 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at the Greenwood cemetery in Bemidji, MN.
Earl was born June 3, 1928 in Grafton, North Dakota the son of Rudolph and Agnes (Narveson) Dahl. He was raised and educated in Grafton, graduating from high school in 1946. He married the love of his life, Mabel Betty Anderson April 11, 1948 in Grafton, ND. He owned and operated a gas station in Wallhalla, ND. They lived in Grafton and had their first four children Allen, Ron, Janice and Gary. They moved to East Grand Forks in 1955 and had their 5th child Larry and he started working for Robertson Lumber. They moved to Hoople, ND in 1959 where he worked for Robertson Lumber; then later transferred to Drayton in 1962 where he worked for Robertson Lumber. They had their daughter Sandy. They moved to Bemidji in 1967 and had their son Keith. He managed Robertson Lumber until going into business on his own. He also owned and operated Big 7 Surplus and other places before retiring at the age of 80. He was a volunteer fire fighter in Drayton, worked as a night cop in Hoople and was a Lions Club member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling in Bemidji, sports and traveling, but most of all Family always came first.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mabel Dahl of Bemidji; 6 children, Ron (Nancy) Dahl of Bemidji, Janice (Leroy) Binkley of Bemidji, Gary (Pam) Dahl of Northome, Larry Dahl of Bemidji, Sandy (Tracy) Pogue of Bemidji and Keith Dahl of Bemidji; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth and son Allen.
