Died: Feb. 11, 2014
Lona Lavonia Hammond Ward, 85, of Afton, passed away Tuesday at Durham Hensley Health & Rehab.
She was of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Guy Ward; a son: Tom Ward; and a brother: Raymond Hammond.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Services Afton Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. in the Afton Chapel. The Rev. Richard Carroll, and the Rev. John McPheron will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Caney Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Jackson, Chanc Jackson, Daniel Marshall, Bill McGraw, John Ward, and Jim Ward.
The family expresses a special thanks to the Hensley Wing staff at Durham-Hensley Health and Rehab; Amedisys Hospice, especially Sheree, Margaret, and Catherine; and Dr. Phillip Thwing and his staff Kathy, Holly, and Vonda.
