Fellow employees of the American and News and friends of the family gathered at the funeral of Joseph H. Johnson Wednesday afternoon in the Huebl chapel. Death came with such a swift pace after only a week's illness of pneumonia, that it has been hard to realize here in the office that Joe is gone. He served in so many helpful ways in addition to being assistant pressman that regret over his absence made so terribly positive by the service of the hour, has saddened us all.
At the funeral Rev. A. Elmer Moe, pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran church, officiated in prayer and a brief address. Two songs, "Abide With Me" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sung by Mrs. Belina and Mr. Webb. Pallbearers serving were C.M. Spurr, Ode Tunby, Anton Fangen, Hubert Daker, Con Hendricks and E.D. Larson.
The remains were taken to Houghton for interment beside the form of an infant child which passed away a few weeks ago.
Mrs. Johnson and the two fine little sons, who have been bereaved will move to Houghton where they will make their home with her parents.
