Dallas - Tommy Thomason, 93, died Friday
Born in Salem, he graduated from Turner High School in 1926 and after one year at Oregon State University he went to work to help his family after a fire took their home. He worked construction on the Bonneville Dam and durng World War II worked in the shipyards in Portland. He married Ellen McBride in 1932. She died in 1979. He was a carpenter in Long Beach, Calif., and lived around the country while working for the Army Corps of Engineers. He retired in Westminster, Calif., in 1969. He married Rachel Stonecypher in 1980 and moved to Lincoln City. She died in 1997. He moved to Dallas in 1997 and was a member of Taft Lodge, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his daughter, Gail Burton of Dallas; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dallas Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be at Dallas Cemetery. Contributions: Valley Community Hospital Fund, care of the mortuary.
