Kaiio Dean Fujiwara Sept 28, 1931 -June 17, 2010 Karlo Dean Fujiwara, 78, born Sept. 28, 1931, in New Rockford, N.D., was embraced by his Savior, surrounded bv his family, on June 17, 2010, in Billings. Fie was preceded in death by father Rinney Rine; mother Lydia; brothers Paul, Clyde, Tayro, Huygene; and sisters Grace and Suye. He is survived by his beloved wife Anne; daughters Korine and Kyri; son Rinney; six grandchil- KARLO dren; num- FUJIWARA erous generations of nieces and nephews; and many thousands of students, whom he considered his extended family. Karlo and Anne Fujiwara were married in 1960 and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 19, 2010. The marvelous experience of his life developed a man respected and loved by all. He devoted his life to the tenets of the martial arts which defined his life, philosophy, and dictated his actions. Karlo was a commercial artist in the Billings area for 30 years and his artistic impact is memorialized in the famous Kampgrounds of America logo and the design of the Nile Rodeo symbol. Best known for his martial arts' instruction, his teaching experience spanned over four decades. Fie touched the lives of thousands of children and adults. He instructed students at both of Billings' colleges, as well as the YMCA, and most recently volunteered every week at the Rimrock Foundation. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and mentor; he was loved and will be missed by all. Memorial services will be held on June 23, at 2 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 North 27th Street, Billings, MT, 59101. Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery. The family welcomes all pictures, letters and written stories at the memorial service, where they will be collected, displayed, and saved to share with all.
