James J. Mouat Jr.
MYERS, MT. --- James J. Mouat Jr. farmed and ranched in Treasure County, and served as past director and president of the original Treasure County Farmers Union.
He was a staunch democrat and enjoyed farming, music, poetry, playing pinochle with his neighbors and Pease Bottom.
Mr. Mouat, 72, of Myers, died Thursday morning in St. Vincent Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Seattle, WA., a son of James and Lena Peterson Mouat.
In 1918, he moved with his parents to the family farm in Myers, MT.
He married Helen Berdahl in 1936.
She died in 1943.
In 1946, he married Arla B. Ferch in Billings, MT.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Anne L. Fujiwara and Ellen Schoemer, both of Billings, MT., and Donna Hjelvik of Nye, MT.;
four sons, Willard Ferch of Billings, Robert J. Mouat of Gillette, WY., David W. Mouat of Worland, WY., and Frank Mouat of Myers;
four brothers, Douglas and William both of Billings. John of Nye and Donald of Myers; a sister, Ellen Langstron of Nye; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Community Presbyterian Church in Hysham.
Burial will be in the Rancher Cemetery, Myers, MT.
Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary of Billings is in charge.
