Dr. Alfred E. Brekke Dr. Alfred E. Brekke, 68, Wittenberg, died Friday, Aug. 5. 1988, at his home. He was born May 13, 1920, in the town of Franzen, Marathon County. He is the son of the late Alfred and Emma Brekke. He was married to Ida Dobbe on Oct 27, 1956, in Rosholt. She survives. Brekke graduated from Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He had a veterinary practice in the Wittenberg area for 40 years. He was a charter member of the Wittenberg Lions Club and served on the steering committee, and was a past director of the Maples Hills Golf Club. He was also a past director of the Wittenberg area chamber of commerce and the Citizen's State Bank, Wittenberg. He served on the board of trustees of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Brekke was a member of the Wisconsin Christmas Tree Growers Association; the local, common and state National Veterinary Association; the Bloech-er-Johnson Post 502 of the American Legion, Wittenberg; and was an Army veteran serving in World Warn. Survivors, besides his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Linda) Oestreich, 1415 Marquardt Road, Wausau, and Mrs. Philip (Jane) Paige, Mequon; two sons, James (Judy) Brekke, Boston, Mass., and Richard Brekke, Palatine, HI.; two grandsons, John and Tom Oe streich; two brothers, Evenor and Walton Brekke, Route 1, Witten berg; and one sister, Mrs. Lola Car ter, Rosholt. He was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew, and one granddaughter, Maine. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Peter Gundersen will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the services at the church. Military rites will be conducted at the grave-site by the American Legion.
