Elaine Janet Bestul, 77, Amherst, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Amherst. The Rev. Dwight Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, town of Amherst.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. A memorial has been established. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elaine was born July 23, 1924, in Scandinavia, a daughter of Lorin H. and Emma G. (Knutson) Trinrud. She was the granddaughter of Carl M. and Dina (Grothe) Trinrud.
She was married to Harland M. Bestul Nov. 24, 1945, at Farmington Lutheran Church, Waupaca.

Elaine attended school at Peterson Mill and graduated from the Academy in Scandinavia. She was engaged in farming in Peru and then in Harrison Center with her husband, Harland, until 1958. The couple moved to the Fox Valley after her husband took a position with the Bergstrom Paper Company. The couple retired to the Amherst area in 1984. She was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church, Amherst.

Survivors include her husband, Harland, Wisconsin Veterans Home, King; one daughter, Darlene (Garry) Snell, Waupaca; one daughter-in-law, Sharon (Gordon) Bestul-Peterson, Scandinavia; five grandchildren, Stacy Bestul, of Wyoming, Kelly (Lance) Nelson, Stevens Point, Travis (Jolie) Bestul, Scan-dinavia, Michael (Carmen) Snell, Waupaca, and Chad Bestul, Iola; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Shirley) Trinrud, Amherst, and Lavern (Jerry) Trinrud, Scandinavia; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
