James N. Bestul, 84, of Rosholt, died at St. Michael's Hospital Sunday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock following an lingering illness. His death occurred about an hour after he entered the hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at Faith Lutheran Church, Rosholt. The Rev. Paul Monson will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Vole Funeral Home, Iola, Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.

Mr. Bestul, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin N. Bestul, was born on April 1, 1884, in the Town of Alban. He was married to Miss Clara Lysne of Wittenberg on May 2, 1906. The couple located in Rosholt in 1928 and Mr. Bestul had lived there since Mrs. Bestul died on May 11, 1957.

Mr. Bestul served as marshall of the village for a number of years before his retirement.

Surviving are two sons, Neuman Bestul, Clinton and Russell, Whitewater; four daughters, Miss Norma Besterl and Mrs. Herbert (Thelma) Hanson, Rosholt, and Miss Evelyn Bestul and Mrs. Irvig (Verna) Wogsland, Iola; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Bestul, Iola, and four sisters, Mrs. Mamie roe, Mankato, Minn, mrs. Palmer roe, Scandinavia, Mrs. Carl Austin, Iola, and Mrs. Otis Anderson, Merrill. SPDJ May, 13, 1968
