Memorial services for Michael O. Brien, 59, of Rochester, MN will be at 3:30pm on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, with Rev. Gene Follis officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.
Michael O. Brien was born on February 20, 1950 in Mandan, ND to Carsten and Rose (Sanderson) Brien. Michael died on September 23, 2009 at Maple Manor Nursing Home.
Michael graduated from Mandan High School and North Dakota State University in Fargo. He married Lisa Inkala on September 8, 1979 in Minneapolis, MN. The couple moved to Santa Monica, CA and he attended a school for the blind for training to be a computer programmer. They then moved to San Jose, CA for about 8 years and moved to Rochester, MN in 1981 where Michael worked for IBM as a computer programmer. Michael was a member of Christ Community Church where he was active in the men's prayer group. He enjoyed books on tape, listening to Bluegrass and Classical music and going out with friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa of Rochester, MN; his son, Andrew Brien of Rochester, MN; his mother, Rose Brien of Bismark, ND; his brother, Spencer Brein of Dickinson, ND and his 2 sisters, Monica Brien of Utica, NY and Miriam Brien (Denny Williams) of Pine River, MN. Michael was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials can be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
