OLE A. HAMMER DIED ON SUNDAY MORNING;FEB. 19
Ole A. Hammer passed away at 1 o'clock, Sunday morning at the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. T.O.Winjum, north of the city, near the Hammer schoolhouse.
Mr. Hammer had been gradually failing in health for the past two years. For several months he has been practically an invalid.
For fourteen years he served as a member of the county commissioners of Freeborn county, serving as chairman of the board for four years.
Of Viking ancestry, he was born in Norway, December 11,1842, the son of Erick and Ingebar (Gulbrandson) Hammer.
He came to America as a youth. During his early manhood he was a railway agent on the M. and St. L. and on the old B.C.R. and N.
He took up farming in Albert Lea township in 1885. For twenty-five years he was clerk of school district No. 107 in Albert Lea township.
He leaves two children,
Mrs. Herman Rudzen of Minneapolis
Mrs. Sam Calver of Edmundton, Canada
Also a step-son Elder of Litchfield, Minnesota
T.O. Winjum, a step daughter.
The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at the First Lutheran church on West Clark street.
Interment will be at Central Lutheran church cemetery.
