According to History and Genealogy of the Hinds Family, Peter Richmond Hinds married Nellie L Cutler and they had no children. In 1870, after her parents died, Nellie Cutler 13 b. CA lived in San Jose with her aunt and uncle Emily and James M Cutler, next-door to Leon E Jones and his wife Mary Jane, who was Nellie's half-sister. Leon would eventually become her second husband. In 1900 Emily M [Moore Cutler] Hinds, widow [of both James M Cutler and David Hinds], lived in Santa Cruz with niece Nellie L Hinds, widow [of Peter R Hinds], b 7/1857 CA (parents b. NY). In 1903, after her husband died, Mrs Nellie L Hinds was a founding member of the Friday Shakespeare Club, Santa Cruz's oldest literary society.
