Vickie Lynn May, 65, of Tampa, FL, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019. Formerly of Ohio, she had been a Florida resident since 1972. She was born January 6, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Edward Patrick and Mary Louise (née Ogden) Morrison. She is preceded to glory by her mother, father, and brother, Richard Lee Morrison.
Ms. May graduated from Grove City High School in Grove City, Ohio in 1972. was a secretary for Hillsborough County Schools for well over 30 years. In that time, she primarily worked as a Secretary III in the middle school department. She was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and VFW. Ms. May was also the president of an Elvis fan club as well as the organizer for several Elvis festivals. Some of her festival participants made it to the national level of competition. She loved everything Elvis and was in the newspaper on multiple occasions thanks to her massive Elvis collection.
Ms. May is survived by her loving daughter, Tamitha Lynn (Jose) Chavez of Bonita Springs, FL; her sister, Brenda Sue (Bob) Gwyn of Largo, FL; two cherished grandchildren, Nathalya M’Shell Chavez and Luis Alexander Chavez; her niece, Shelby Jean Freeman; her nephew, Joseph Allen Freeman; great nieces, Destinii Jean Trammell, Crystalyn Jean Trammell and Preslie Jean Ewbank; and great great nephew and niece, Kason James Trammell and Rose Evelyn Durfee.
Services will be held in Bonita Springs at the American Legion on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 2 pm.
