John W. Ward, farmer and retired school teacher, died at his home near Hazel at 6:30 Wednesday morning. He was 71 years of age.

Ward had lived in Oklahoma 40 years, coming to the state from Tennessee in 1897. He was a member of the Christian church.Funeral services will be held at the Vamoosa church at 2:30 Thursday afternoon with Rev. J. Sterling Turner officiating. Burial will be in Vamoosa cemetery.

Relatives who survive include the widow, Mrs. Laura Ward; two daughters, Mrs. Ivor Hughes of Hazel, Mrs. Pearlie Stephens of Konawa; three sons, Carl Ward of Holdenville, Willie Ward of Hazel and Clarence Ward, of Texas, and nine grandchildren.

The Thornton Funeral home is in charge of burial arrangements.171
