Jones Geneaology Report 2024.02.18 - Person Sheet
Misc. Notes
Oregon "O.R." Perkins was a photographer with studios in Stevens Point and Portage Wisconsin from about 1878 - 1896. However, he either continued to do some studio portraits in Portage in the early 1900's or someone else offered portraits in Portage under the Perkins name between 1900-1910. I think he continued to do some portraiture in Portage in that time period. I have original cabinet cards with the Perkins Photography, Portage logo that were taken in this time period. Portage newspapers in March of 1900 reported that a fire was started in O.R. Perkins' rooms in the Weir building on DeWitt St. Articles note that he kept his photography equipment in his rooms. Cabinet cards with the Perkins name list the address as Dewitt St.

The 3 of them are in the 1870 Census in June of 1870 (Forest, Richland, WI). Willard is 10 months old. Oregon is working as a photographer. Assuming they divorce shortly after Willard's death. By August of 1870, Mary is living in Springfield, Ohio with her widowed mother, Martha Latimer & siblings & using her maiden name (1870 Census, Springfield,Clark, OH).
