SCHAEFFER, Robert A., of Dayton, passed away Sunday, October 15, 1995 on his 75th birthday. A native Daytonian, he graduated from Oakwood High School and Tabor Academy of MA. While at Tabor, he crewed on the International Rowing Team representing the U.S. at the Henley Cup Races at Henley, England in 1939. He attended Stanford University until the invasion of Pearl Harbor In 1941, when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Air Corps. Bob was the founder of Chemineer Inc. and a co-founder of Sugar Valley Country Club. He was a Rotarian and a Thirty-Niner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Louise Schaeffer; and his brother, Brad Schaeffer. He is survived by his wife, Isabel Kuntz Schaeffer of 51 years; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lucia and Jeff Kunst. Diane and Hart Fisher, of Dayton; 2 sons and daughters-in-law. Matt and Nancy Schaeffer, FL and Mark and Karen Schaeffer, Lebanon; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Dr. Charles Thorne of Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 18, 1995 at the Tobias Funeral Home, Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Fr. Tom Meyer officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
