David Chandler Colt, 78, of Marshalltown, IA, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. A memorial service will be at 10:30 am Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. David was born Sept. 23, 1924 in El Paso, TX, the son of William Albert Colt and Louise Fye Colt. He graduated from Lyons, CO High School and attended the University of Colorado. He married Lorraine Qually Sept. 15, 1945. He was an ensign in the U.S. Marine Corps. David worked for Youth and Shelter Services in Ames as a recovery coach. In Marshalltown, he was one of the founders of the House of Compassion homeless shelter and also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by one son, James Colt and his wife, Susan of St. Cloud, MN; three grandchildren, Angela Hultgren and husband James, Karen Colt, and Brian Colt. David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three siblings. Memorials may be directed to the Samaritan Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown or to the Hour of Power.
