Thomas P. Orsund Thomas P. Orsund, 54, Amherst, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at his residence. He was born August 16, 1951, in Long Prairie. Minn.,the son of Wallace and Carol (Garster) Orsund. He married Marilyn A. Konkol on May 3, 1980, in Amherst. Thomas is survived by his wife, Thomas Orsund Marilyn; a son, Joseph . (Natalie) Orsund of Amherst; a daughter, Jennifer (special friend Ryan Wilson) Orsund of Amherst; a granddaughter, Kaylie Orsund; his father, Wallace (Terri) Orsund of Aitkin, Minn.; his mother, Carol Zinke of Coon Rapids, Minn.; three sisters, Mary (Larry) Stenquist of Andover, Minn., Peggy (Leon) Schendel of Champlin, Minn., and Nancy (Earl) Klersy of Rogers, Minn.; a brother, Wally (Cheri) Orsund of Ramsey, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant siblings, Wallace M. and Debbie Lynn Orsund, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Thomas moved to Amherst in 1977 while working for the Soo Line Railroad. In January 1985, he started working as a housing coordinator with CAP services. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Tom was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He had also been a coach for the Amherst High School girls basketball team. He enjoyed metal detecting, going to auctions and collecting antiques. He also thoroughly enjoyed being a dad and grandpa. A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst, with the Rev. Gretchen Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst. Friends may call at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst on Thursday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church on Friday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A prayer service will be held at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst Thursday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in memory of Thomas P. Orsund. Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
