Misc. Notes
Don L. Dobbe, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton, WI. Don was born November 4, 1937 in Galloway, Wisconsin; son of the late Luell and Evelyn (Gullickson) Dobbe.

An accomplished trumpet player, Don started a polka band while in high school "Don Dobbe and the Windjammers." He and his band helped get hundreds of newly-married couples off on the right note!

He married his high school sweetheart Gert Stewart on October 6, 1956 and enjoyed 56 years of family, friends and faith together.

He and Gert raised their four children in Appleton. Despite being slowed by health issues in his early thirties, Don was a devoted and involved father. He served as a scout master, soap box derby designer and overall supporter of all his children's activities.

After a successful career as a lighting designer, he opened his own business helping thousands of families light their homes as well as many businesses and churches throughout the area.

After semi-retiring from his business, they moved to Lakewood, WI where Don continued his community involvement. He served as a President of the McCauslin Brook Lion's Club and was very active with the Christian Food Pantry and their church, St. John's Lutheran Church in Townsend.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, John and Hilda Stewart, John and Mary Eichinger, Gil Jeske and Shirley Dobbe.

He is survived by the love of his life, Gert; their children and spouses: Jim and Ellie Dobbe, Douglas and Renae Dobbe, Steven and Jenny Sue Dobbe, and Jane and John Mayer; along with 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his three brothers and their families, Gordy and Pat Dobbe, David Dobbe, and Tom and Shelley Dobbe, his in-laws, Carrie Jeske, Hank and Maggie Stewart and many nieces and nephews.
