George was born to William and Marie (Eekhoff) Caspers. He grew up on the family farm north of Clara City and after his brother, Henry, died in WWII, he began helping more on the family farm. On October 9, 1946, George married Alice Peters. Together they had five children and enjoyed raising their family on the farm Alice grew up on east of Clara City. George farmed all his life, raising crops, cattle, hogs and even buffalo and sheep. He also owned Caspers Livestock and bought and sold cattle for many area farmers for several years. George was very active on the Clara City School board serving for 18 years (1963-1981). He was honored by the Minnesota School Board Association as an outstanding school board member of the Clara City Public School and received an honorary certificate and plaque for his service. In 1990 George and Alice moved off the farm and in to Clara City. After the death of his wife, Alice on September 1, 1991, George was blessed to find a second companion, Evelyn Hauge. They married on September 11, 1993.
George was a lifetime member of Bethany Reformed Church where he served as a deacon and an elder. He sang in the choir and also performed many duets with his wife, Alice in the Bethany Reformed Church and several area churches. He also enjoyed the Men's Bible Study. George loved hunting, fishing, riding horseback, music and most of all spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to his grandchildren's many sporting events including basketball and football. In his later years he enjoyed spending a few winters in Arizona with Evelyn and enjoyed the sport of golfing with many friends. George lived for farming and even in his retirement he would make daily trips to the farm and spend as much time as he could there. George also had a great sense of humor and had many stories to share with anyone he came in contact with, and at times enjoyed being a practical joker. He loved his Lord deeply and was very strong in his faith which he portrayed to his family always and read his daily devotions.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Alice and Evelyn; siblings; Henry, John, Catherine Muller, Lena Hilbrands Barney, Jennie Hubin, Marion Hinrichs; daughter, Colleen Caspers on September 25, 2014 and son-in-law, Larry DeGraw in August, 2009.
