SURGOINSVILLE - Virgle Manis, age 76, Surgoinsville died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a farmer of C.H. Geiger Farms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Manis and Lissie Wilson Manis; sisters, Gladys Manis, Freddie Burchfield and Ruth Mayo; brothers, Otis, Madison H. and Wayne Manis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nana Lee Manis of the home; children, JoAnn Sims and John Chess, Robert and Wanda Salyers, Jerry and Denise Qualls, Harlan and Ladonna Presley, James and Dawn Manis, all of Surgoinsville, Sherman and Sidney Benton, Jerry and Patty Hickman, all of Rogersville, and Harold and Lovaine Barner, Church Hill; grandchildren, Ricky Tina, Billy Regina, Crystal, Leslie JaLana, James, Ashley, Dwayne, Kristen, Skylar, David, Tresta, Tiffany, Joshua and Alisha; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Krista, Tabitha, Dustin, Rylee, Dylan, C.J., Austin, Taylor and Garrett; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Rev. Kenneth Phillips, Church Hill and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 3, 2006 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home with Revs. Fain Arnold and Kenneth Phillips officiating. Graveside services were held Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Longs Bend Cemetery. Christian-Sells Funeral Home, Rogersville was in charge of arrangements.
