Ralph Lorend Roe, 54, died July 30, 1997, at his home in Anchorage. A visitation was at the Anchorage Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors followed at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Mr. Roe was born Aug. 27, 1942, in the Township of New Hope in Portage County, Wis. He was baptized and confirmed in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in the Township of New Hope. He was a 1960 graduate of Iola-Scandinavia High School in Iola, Wis. He became a resident of Anchorage in 1982. After retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1982, he went to work for the Department of Corrections in Palmer and was employed there until the present. His hobbies included fishing and playing golf. His family said, ''He was loved very much and will be missed by all.''

Mr. Roe is survived by his wife, Ruri of Anchorage; son, Bruce of Appleton, Wis.; sister, June of LeSueur, Minn.; brothers, Keith of Waupaca, Wis., Daniel of Glencoe, Minn., and Gregory of Iola. Mr. Roe was preceded in death by his parents, Lorend and Julia (Simonis) Roe of Wisconsin, and his brothers, Timothy and Roger. Arrangements were handled by Anchorage Funeral Home.
