I graduated from the University of Victoria in 1969 with a B. Ed. in History, Geography and Physical Education and spent the next 34 years teaching grades 8 to 11 in seven different schools:
1 year in Tahsis, BC, 4 in Victoria, one in Ottawa on a teacher exchange (1977-78) and one in Perth, WA (1984) on another teacher exchange.
I spent the most time at Oak Bay High School in Victoria, 1970 - 77 and 1991 - 2003 for a total of 19 years.
I met my wife Margaret at Uvic in September, 1965. She was in elementary PE and I was in secondary PE and we shared some first year classes. She was 18 years old and fresh out of high school (Oak Bay High School). I was 22 and I turned 23 on December 2 that year. We were married on August 26, 1967.
She taught grades 4 and 5 for 25 years over a 36 year span from 1968 to 2004. I retired at the end of June, 2003 and she retired one year later. We bought our home in 1973 and are still here.
We have two daughters, Maren and Merisa, sons-in-law Ian and Mike and four grandchildren:
Makena (10), Mason (9), Zoe (7) and Molly (6). We all live in Victoria.
